usnapit is operated by SimplyIQ Inc ("we", "us"), a company registered in Florida, United States. usnapit is a calorie, macro and weight tracking app for iPhone and Android. This policy explains what we collect, why, where it goes, and what you can do about it. It forms part of our terms of service. By using usnapit you agree to the handling described here.
1.What we collect
Email address and password
Why To create your account and sync your history across devices.
Where Our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see your password; it is stored hashed.
Meal photos
Why To estimate calories and macros, and to keep a picture alongside the meal in your log.
Where Sent to our server and on to our AI provider for the estimate; our server does not retain a copy once it answers. The photo itself is kept on your device, and if you sign in it is uploaded to your own storage so your log keeps its pictures on a new phone. Deleting the entry, or your account, deletes it.
Meal descriptions you type
Why The same as a photo - to produce an estimate.
Where The same as a photo: processed for the estimate, not retained by our server.
Your food log, targets and goal
Why The core function of the app.
Where On your device, and in your account if you sign in.
Weight and body measurements
Why Trends, projections, the goal celebration and the adaptive calorie budget.
Where On your device, and in your account if you sign in.
Aggregates for "What your log says"
Why To write the short plain-English read of your week on the Today screen.
Where Your phone works out the figures first - days logged, average intake, average active energy, protein, a weight trend, your target and goal, your units - and sends only those to our server and on to our AI provider. No meal names, no photos, no dates, no name, no email. The result is cached on your device and in your account; the inputs are not retained by our server.
Health app data you connect
Why To read your weight and the energy you burn, so your calorie target reflects what you actually burn.
Where Read from Apple Health or Health Connect on your device. Stays on the device unless you sign in, in which case it syncs with your own account like the rest of your log.
Active calories you enter by hand
Why The same, for people who do not use a watch or want to correct one.
Where On your device, and in your account if you sign in.
Barcodes you scan
Why To look the product up and return its published figures, with no AI involved.
Where The number alone is sent to our server and on to Open Food Facts, an open product database. Nothing identifying you goes with it.
Coins, tiers, badges and themes
Why The rewards system: what you have earned, what you have spent, which themes you unlocked, which goals you reached.
Where Derived from your log on your device and synced with your account. Nothing about it is shared with anyone unless you put your tier on a share card yourself.
Counts of what you do in the app
Why To show you your own totals ("142 meals snapped"), and to tell us which features are worth keeping.
Where Your account, as a running count per action. The count only - never the photo, the text, the result, your device or your OS.
Your reminder settings
Why To schedule reminders on your device.
Where Your device, and your account if you sign in. The reminders themselves are built and scheduled on the phone; nothing about them is sent anywhere.
Subscription status
Why To unlock paid features and to answer support questions about billing.
Where Our payments provider (RevenueCat) and the App Store or Google Play, and mirrored into your account record so our server knows whether you are subscribed. No card details ever reach us.
Support email
Why To answer you.
Where Our mailbox, for as long as we need it to deal with the question and any follow-up.
Technical logs
Why To keep the service running, to find and fix faults, and to stop abuse - rate limits, in particular, need to know how often a request arrives.
Where Our servers, in the ordinary way any server records requests: time, route, status, an IP address and the identifier of the account making the call. Kept for a short period and then discarded.
2.Sharing a card
The share card is built on your phone and handed straight to your own share sheet. It does not pass through our servers, we do not keep a copy, and we have no idea whether you sent it or where.
What it contains is your choice each time: how consistently you logged is on it by default, and your calories, your weight, your active calories, your protein, your goal, your tier and a reached goal are off unless you switch them on. A switch you turn on stays on for next time, and you can turn it off again on the spot. Once you have sent a card it is out of our hands and yours: where it goes and who sees it is between you and the people you sent it to.
3.What we do not do
- We do not sell your data. Not to anyone, in any form.
- We do not use your meal photos or your logs to train AI models, and our AI provider processes them under terms that do not permit it to either.
- We do not show you advertising, and we do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not ask for your contacts or your microphone.
- We do not use push notifications, so there is no notification token and no server that knows when to message you. Reminders are scheduled by the app on your own device, from your own log, and what they say never leaves the phone.
4.What we may do
- Use the action counts described above, and other information that does not identify you, in aggregate, to understand how usnapit is used and to improve it.
- Email you about your account: a sign-in code, a receipt from the store, a change to these terms. We do not send marketing email unless you ask for it.
- Disclose information where the law requires it, to enforce our terms, to protect the rights, property or safety of usnapit, our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets - in which case the same policy continues to apply to it.
5.Location, and only for menus
usnapit asks for your approximate location at one moment: the first time you photograph a restaurant menu, so it can work out which currency the prices are printed in and convert them to yours. It is country-level accuracy - we do not ask for and cannot use anything finer.
The coordinates stay on your phone. Your device turns them into a country, and only the resulting currency code is used to look up an exchange rate. We never store a location, and it is never attached to anything you log. Decline it and menus still work - you simply see the printed prices without a conversion.
6.Health data
Connecting Apple Health or Health Connect is optional, off by default, and can be turned off again at any time. usnapit works completely without it.
What we read. Your weight and the energy you burn: active energy, and on Android also the daily total, because some sources record only the total and the active part has to be worked out from it. Nothing else is requested, and the permission screen your phone shows lists exactly these.
What we write. One thing: a weight you type into usnapit yourself, written back so your other apps stay in step. We never write anything you did not enter, and we write nothing at all if you do not connect the integration.
What we do with it. Your energy burned over the last seven days is averaged to work out your daily calorie target, in place of the activity level you would otherwise pick by hand. Your weight feeds the same trends and projections a manually entered weigh-in does. Averages of these figures are among the aggregates used for "What your log says".
Where it goes. It is used inside the app and, if you have an account, synced to that account so your history follows you between devices. It is never sold, never shared with any third party, never used for advertising or marketing, and never used to make decisions about you beyond showing you your own numbers. It is not shared with data brokers, insurers or employers.
Turning it off. Revoke access in your phone's own Health settings, or disconnect inside usnapit. Either way the app falls back to the activity level on your profile, and to weight and active calories you enter by hand. Weigh-ins already imported stay in your log; delete your account to remove them.
Your food log can include alcoholic drinks, and usnapit records an estimate of the alcohol in them so it can show what share of a day's calories came from drink. That is treated exactly like the rest of your log: yours, not sold, not shared.
7.Third parties we use
- Supabase - authentication and cloud storage for your account data.
- OpenAI - analyzes the photo or description you submit and returns a nutrition estimate, and writes "What your log says" from the aggregates described above.
- RevenueCat, with Apple and Google - subscription management and billing.
- Open Food Facts - the open product database a scanned barcode is looked up in. It receives the barcode number and nothing else.
- Render - hosts our backend and this website.
Each processes data only to provide their part of the service, under its own terms. We may change or add providers as the service evolves; where a change materially affects how your data is handled, we will update this policy.
8.Where your data is stored
Our servers and providers are in the United States. If you use usnapit from elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed in the United States, and by using the app you consent to that. The protections in this policy travel with it.
9.How long we keep it
Your log and account data: for as long as you have an account. Deleted entries: recoverable for 30 days, then gone. Photos and descriptions sent for an estimate: not retained by our server once it answers. Technical logs: a short period, then discarded. Support email: as long as the matter is open. When you delete your account, everything held against it is deleted; copies in our routine backups age out within a short period afterward.
10.Why usnapit needs an account
usnapit asks you to sign in before you can use it. That is not for our benefit: your log, your weight history and your photos are worth more than the phone they were typed on, and an account is what lets them survive a lost handset, follow you to a new one, and stay in step across two devices. A tracker whose year of history dies with the phone is a tracker nobody trusts with a year.
An email address and a password is all it takes. We ask for nothing else to create it, and you can delete the account and everything in it from inside the app, or from this page, without asking us.
11.Your rights
You can export your data, correct anything that is wrong, and delete your account and everything in it from Profile, or from this page. Deletion is permanent and takes effect immediately. If you live somewhere that gives you further rights over your personal data - the EU, the UK, California among others - you have them, and you exercise them the same way or by emailing us. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder before acting on it.
12.Security
Data travels encrypted, passwords are stored hashed, and access to our systems is limited to what running the service needs. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot promise that one never fails; keep your password to yourself and tell us at once if you think your account has been used by someone else.
13.Children
usnapit is not intended for anyone under 16. Calorie tracking is not appropriate for children, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
14.Changes
We may update this policy as usnapit changes. The date at the top says when. If a change is material we will say so in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use usnapit after that is acceptance of the updated policy.
